The music and atmospheres delve deep into the unfathomable abyss, echoing Lovecraft's dark universe. Vocals alternate between offbeat declamations reminiscent of a drunken master, guttural voices akin to characters from a Romero film, and the haunting cries of beasts lurking in Scandinavian forests – all delivered with precision and intent.
Scoring 8/10

As Light Dies – TLA vol2 album in the top 2023 albums by Zware Metalen.com

13. This album here, along with the next one coming right up, are of that rare caliber of releases that would have probably made it high on my weird AOTY list had I had more time to live with them. However, even given the fact this thing just got released, it probably got more replays with me than albums that came out nine months ago. Infectious, very well done "weirdo Norwegians worship," especially impressive coming from a one-man project. Take a gander at the FFO that I'm about to lay on ya, and you'll have a nice idea of good this is.

Spanish band Deemtee are out with the album "Strange Aeons & Deliriums", and progressive metal is the style explored on this production. It is an extreme variety of the form we get in this case, but one that is explored and executed with a focus on elegance. The disruptive elements are minimized throughout, and even when the band heads into the more pacefilled and intense excursions and makes use of distorted gruff vocals the landscapes projected are rather more appealing in nature than what is usually the case for this variety of the style. But a more defining aspect of this album are quirky, off kilter instrument details and clean vocals, reminding me quite a bit of what Norwegian band Virus used to create back in the day, and with a liberal amount of romantic interludes and intersections that see the band switch over to a light toned, elegant folk music inspired and oriented landscape of the kind that probably falls in under the pastoral description. Self-described as a black metal band, this is an album that merits a check by those intrigued by what an accessible and progressive black metal band may sound like.

It’s a weird album, and in a very good way. Can’t say I’ve heard much like this lately, and their effort is sincere. Their rhythm is tight, the singing is pretty, and the carefully selected riffs are nasty. It’s an enchanting album that sounds like from a different era of music, on the other hand, they’re unique enough to be captivating. This type of symphonic what the fuck metal is in short supply, so get some while it lasts.
