There are soundtracks… and then there are sonic rituals…
For “Call of the Void”, the talented composer and multi-instrumentalist NHT (As Light Dies, Garth Arum, Deemtee…) channels his most shapeshifter persona, Asciimov, to deliver something far beyond “background music”, he’s excavated the raw frequencies buried beneath Quake I and Quake II’s fractured code… the result? A score that bleeds industrial drones, stuttering signals, tectonic low-end rumbles and moments of eerie silence, the perfect soundtrack for wandering through abandoned alien temples where time no longer applies…
Just like he did with his debut score for the mod BlooM, where he warped and fused the iconic soundtracks of Doom II and Blood, this time NHT has reimagined the sonic DNA of Quake I and Quake II, twisting and layering them into something darker, stranger and more evocative… the music mutates with the world… deepening as the void expands…
We’re proud to announce that the official soundtrack for “Call of the Void” will be released on CD by DARKWOODS in a brutal, custom-crafted edition inspired by classic Quake imagery… expect an ultra-limited pressing, premium materials and packaging that looks like a blood-soaked datachip pulled straight from a forgotten Strogg lab… follow us here and on our website, full details dropping very soon…
Still hungry for more? We’ve got you… check out this brand new preview of the wicked mod, an atmospheric dive through its corrupted worlds, showcasing environments, creatures and mood… all backed by a killer early version of one of the tracks from the original Asciimov OST. This raw, primal mix sets the tone, but the final, full-powered version is being saved for the upcoming teaser, where the Void will hit even harder. This is what corrupted Quake sounds like, where horror, awe and glitch merge into one!!
What happens when the ancient horrors of Quake I are twisted into the cold machinery of Quake II?
“Call of the Void” is an ambitious new mod for Quake II Remastered, a massive crossover between Quake I and Quake II, developed by members of the BlooM Team and Rest in Pixels as a spiritual (unofficial) expansion to “Call of the Machine”, probably the most acclaimed expansion ever made for Quake II Remastered…
The story picks up right where that journey ended, with “The Machine” cast into the abyss, until a voice echoes in the void, it’s Vadrigar, offering a deal: freedom, in exchange of cosmic vengeance…
The Strogg have committed the ultimate heresy, twisted versions of Quake I’s nightmarish creatures now march as abominations serving a new Strogg agenda. Your mission? Destroy them, tear through a collapsing dimension where the realities of Quake I and Quake II violently collide, and unleash divine retribution upon those who dared profane the old gods. Yeah, “Call of the Void” isn’t just a mod… it’s a dimensional rift!!
But what truly binds this madness together is the sound… and who better to take charge of the soundtrack than NHT / Oscar Martín Diez-Canseco (As Light Dies, Garth Arum, Deemtee…), one of the most inventive minds in underground game music, through his most radical project yet: Asciimov. The score is a brutal, discarnate descent into metallic ambience, industrial dread and shifting frequencies, carved from broken geometry and data corruption… and yes, a physical edition is already in the works to be released by DARKWOODS …
“Call of the Void” launches soon (very soon) for PC… in the meantime, check out the official announcement and watch the fantastic trailer featuring several excerpts from Asciimov’s killer soundtrack!!
The Void is waiting and, this time, it sounds different…
